Rockwell Collins-IMS in Annapolis MD is seeking a Network Engineer to support our Technology Services and Operations (TS&O) Division. The Network Engineer will perform system engineering design network design and end-to-end system performance testing in support of the private globe-spanning WAN called the ARINC GLOBAL Network (AGN) system. AGN provides high availability networking world-wide for Rockwell Collins IMS aviation transportation and airports customers. The AGN system is comprised of several private data centers and connects to the far reaches of the globe in almost every country providing aviation airport government and transportation connectivity. The AGN system is at the forefront of networking security technology to provide private reliable networking to mission critical and government customers. The AGN system uses the most advanced features in routing switching and security technologies.
The Network Engineer will support AGN system enhancements by:
Developing and analyzing system and customer requirements* Documenting operational scenarios
Developing and documenting system architecture and network topology
Coordinating with other teams and external customers and agencies
Configuring routers switches and other networking components
Preparing system acceptance test plans
Conducting system level functional and regression testing
Providing post-deployment support
- 2-5 years of experience in network management support.
All candidates must demonstrate:
A firm understanding of the basic elements of Network Management (FCAPS)
Knowledge of network security processes and procedures.
Experience or lab projects configuring CISCO routers and switches.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Experience or lab projects that demonstrate teamwork and collaboration.
Education or Certification requirements:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Information Systems
Desired: CCNA CISCO certification
Candidates with 4 or more years of industry experience must demonstrate:
Experience designing or maintaining a large-scale, geographically diverse internetworked data communication system.
Demonstrated understanding of project life cycle support, including requirements development, analysis, design, test, implementation and post-deployment support.
Proven experience of working successfully within a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Understanding of formal configuration management processes.
Experience with computer programming or a scripting language such as Perl or Python.
