Job Summary

Evaluates and manages new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures. Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs. Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence and implementing of strategic business objectives. Provides for financial analyses, long-range forecasting and analysis studies associated with potential alliances and partnerships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Holds overall accountability for strategy development division and its impact on Rockwell Collins' Global Enterprise.

  • Evaluates and manages new strategic business opportunities, initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, alliances and/or joint ventures. Challenges are frequently unique and solutions may serve as precedent for future decisions.

  • Oversees market analysis, monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs.

  • Provides leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence and implementing of strategic business objectives.

  • Acts independently and exercises judgment with considerable discretion, and is governed by the application of principles, established standards and practices.

  • Defines vision, strategies and tactics. Decisions affect the financial or strategic direction of the global Enterprise. Has overall control of planning, budgeting, managing expense priorities for the strategic development division. Holds accountability for annual strategic plans for the division. Leads development of strategic plan components. Accountable for operational and departmental results (1-3 years).

  • Identifies, creates and manages business relationships with select companies to develop solutions and/or create complementary products/services.

  • Interacts with leaders and key customers to define mutual goals and objectives, and builds awareness and support of overall strategic benefits of the alliance. Serves as a prime contact point and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters: Negotiates with customers regarding matters of key significance to the organization: Consults with and influences senior leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization. Makes recommendations and implements changes to methods.

  • Provides for financial analyses, long-range forecasting and analysis studies associated with potential alliances/partnerships.

  • Establishes metrics to assess the sales impact of the solution(s) in the marketplace and the overall success of the alliance.

  • Responsible for workforce planning to ensure the efficient operation of the function: Oversees staffing, development, performance management/evaluation, diversity, health/safety, and employee relations. Prioritizes resources to focus on work necessary to meet operational objectives and business unit goals.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience
