B/E’s Lighting & Integrated Systems offers a variety of solutions to business jet and commercial OEM’s as well as airlines directly. Major product lines include Interior Lighting, Exterior Lighting, Cabin Management System, Coax Cable & Trays, System Upgrade Provisions, Aerostructures & Interior Assemblies, Engineering, Design and Certification.
As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including Director of Engineering in our Lighting & Integrated Systems function located in Bohemia, NY.
Reporting to the Bohemia VP/GM, the Director of Engineering will provide technical expertise, analysis and direction for the development and implementation of processes required for successful program delivery to aerospace customers. Coordinate engineering activities for a variety of aerospace programs while meeting establish corporate goals, objectives and policies. Work cross functionally with all areas of the business to meet on time delivery and quality requirements to each customer.
Provide leadership and mentoring to a multi-discipline/multi-product engineering team
Provide strategic and tactical direction for a large engineering organization.
Manage department budgets, indirect cost management, budget planning and forecasting
Manage resources to support program schedules, balancing needs, priorities and cost.
Guide the Engineering Organization to continue along a Continuous Improvement path utilizing process improvement methods/tools/training.
Work to standardize legacy processes and develop new breakthrough processes
Provide leadership and direction to identify, plan and implement projects that tie strongly to the business strategic plan and corporate objectives.
Assist in the identification and removal of barriers to successful project completion.
Drive New Product Introduction programs and leading direct technical interface with multiple customers.
Establish overall program priority.
Contract review and risk assessment.
Resource capacity planning, evaluation and allocation.
Support introduction of new products into manufacturing.
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in an Engineering discipline or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work experience.
Minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible positions with at least 5 years senior level management or large diversified engineering and technical teams.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience building, managing and developing effective and innovative technical teams.
Experience taking product from engineering concept through development and ultimately transition to production
Ability and passion to bring vision and innovation to the engineering function.Effective collaboration skills and strategy development with peers and senior leaders.
Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with leadership (minimum – up to 2 levels up)
Strict adherence to meeting scheduling deadlines and holding individuals accountable to meet customer requirements.
Master’s in Engineering. MBA greatest preference.
Aerospace industry experience.
