Job Summary

The Government Systems Engineering Airborne Strike Platform Systems Department (ASPS Engineering) is looking for a dynamic Pr Technical Project Manager (TPM) to provide leadershipsupporting our Bomber, Fighter, Light Attack, and Trainer Avionics business areas. This role will maintain interaction with major customers, business development, program managers, and a globally distributed engineering team. This position focuses on managing a group of systems and SW & HW domain engineers executing on existing Bomber and Fighter avionics solutions. The position requires experienced leaders whom have demonstrated an ability to execute on moderate and large avionics developments while controlling scope, cost, and schedule. This role will be the primary Engineering Focal point for key external customers and internal program/engineering management.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include managing individuals planning, organizing, resource allocation, as well as project management skills including earned value analysis. This includes working across Commercial Systems and Government Systems Engineering development teams to ensure successful project completion. Additional responsibilities will include customer interaction, and communication with department and program management. A successful candidate will have knowledge of earned value and schedule management, software and systems development process and practices, and experience leading a team of more than 25 people. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, strategic thinking, communication skills, networking skills, and able to accurately forecast project work and costs. The selected candidate will work directly with and/or manage daily activities of engineers, perform project engineering and program management tasks when applicable, and interfacing with support organizations during the development of products. The candidate will work closely with Program Managers, Product Line / Program Management, Systems, Software, and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a program's lifecycle. A successful candidate will need the ability to matrix across multiple domains and development tasks while supporting project objectives of meeting cost and schedule goals. Candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Rockwell Collins process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications

Candidates MUST have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline,

  • Project planning and execution on programs with more than 25 engineers

  • US DoD security clearance, or ability to obtain (US Citizenship is required)

  • Ability to travel 15%

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience with Rockwell Collins Fusion Avionics

  • Previous experience as a Systems Lead, Engineering Manager, or Technical Project Manager

  • Systems engineering experience (minimum 5 years)

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile software development and planning models

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.

  • Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks, while balancing priorities and schedules are important attributes.

  • Self-starter and have strong analytical skills.

  • Experience pursuing medium and high complexity program engineering change proposals.

  • System level test planning, configuration management and test execution.
