Supportability engineers apply a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to a wide variety of high complex support requirements employing engineering analysis methods in the development of integrated logistics support over all phases of RCI product life cycles to ensure optimum sustainable support solutions for RCI customers. Responsible for performing Integrated Product Support (IPS); which encompasses supportability analyses and planning tasks for communication and aviation electronics solutions. Act as a core member of a program Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) providing advice, and product. Technical complexity will include familiarity of the twelve elements of integrated product support, for electronic communications systems. A Supportability Engineer must be capable of performing most tasks under the guidance of more senior supportability engineers, including but not limited to: Maintenance Planning, Maintenance Concept development, Level of Repair Analysis, Support Planning, Sparing Analysis, Life Cycle Cost/Cost of Ownership Analysis, Diminishing Manufacturing and Material Shortages Analysis and Reports, Identification of Common and Peculiar Support Equipment requirements, and identification of trainer, and training curriculum requirements. Familiarity and experience with multiple integrated product support elements, support analysis software tools such as Life Cycle Cost models, and sparing models is desired. In addition, the individual must exhibit communication skills to enable preparation of effective analysis reports, support plans, presentations, and proposal documents.
Considered a specialist in a specific Supportability products and services area or generalist in multiple areas of supportability design and recognized in their business unit. Provides technical direction to the logistics integrated product team and other technical disciplines in the performance of sophisticated analyses in developing optimum support solutions for RCI customers.
Significant supportability, maintainability and domain knowledge of ILS products and services across multiple business units and for many DoD customers. Mastered all basic and intermediate supportability product development plus able to perform comprehensive life cycle cost/total ownership cost analyses (LCC/TOC) and trade studies to develop complex supportability and sustainment solutions.
Servce as a supportability architect to plan, analyze, and document ILS products and services for high complexity designs. Contribute to total system support solutions.
Recommend new tools and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in the supportability engineering process.
Decisions may have signiciant imjpact on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
Lead preparation of proposals and presentations for the ILS and supportability engineering domain.
Estimate, track, and report project costs and schedules while managing scope & risk. May perform Cost Account Management of spceific ILS efforts.
Mentor junior supportability engineers in additional areas including domain knowledge and lessons learned.
Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline, and two years of related experience, or, in the absence of a bachelor's degree, six years of related experience.
Candidate must be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Security Clearance. Requires U.S. Citizenship.
Candidate must be able to travel on an as needed basis (Domestic), International is a plus.
Experience in the use of engineering tools such as (Relex, SlicWave, Powerlog J, Compass, SysPAR), as well as experience in RAM or RMA field.
Experience working in an IPT type structure to include remote team dynamics preferred
