Serves as the technical resource to the Design, Manufacturing, Program Management, Supply Chain, Quality, etc. communities for electrical and mechanical component, materials and related process support. The Application Engineer establishes design criteria, specifications, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for assigned commodities. They are responsible for the documentation of components, processes, technology roadmaps, and design guidelines associated with assigned commodities. They direct Failure and Root Cause analysis and provide technical assistance with; material verification resolution, specification or drawing exceptions, supplier issues, and manufacturing related issues for assigned technologies. The Application Engineer identifies, evaluates, and recommends new components for new product development requirements and for improving existing manufacturing process yields. They support assigned Commodity Teams as the technical lead. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.
Lead the establishment of preferred technologies, sources of supply, and acceptance criteria for assigned commodities.
Mentor Application Engineers in the documentation and release of components, processes, technology roadmaps, and design guidelines associated with assigned commodities.
Perform complex Failure and Root Cause Analysis and corrective action on assigned commodities. Actively assist production and Design Engineering in failure analysis.
Mentor Application Engineers and provide technical assistance with: material verification resolution, specification or drawing exceptions, supplier issues, and manufacturing related issues for assigned commodities.
Develop, Identify, evaluate, and recommend new components or materials and manufacturers for new product requirements and for improving existing manufacturing process yields.
Support assigned Commodity Teams and Communities of Practice as the technical lead. Actively interface with Supply Base to implement change.
Analyzes parametric data, preference codes, and obsolescence prediction data for components in assigned area.
Design Engineering community support including: design development assistance, interfacing, communication, component application issue resolution, and general question/issue resolution.
General technical support including activities associated with Bidding/Negotiating, Data Collection, and Analysis. Report Generation related to technical issues including but not limited to; Hazardous Material, fungus, shelf life, ESD, flammability, etc.
Continuously assumes lead of projects initiated by management or more senior team members and the carries project through to completion.
Presentation of strategic and/or technical information to senior management and/or internal and external customers.
Individual job duties may vary.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
US Citizenship or Permanent Residence is required. Candidate must have a strong electrical background.
Electric Engineering Degree, Supply Chain, and Electrical Component experience desired.
