Job Summary

This position is for a Sr. Electrical Engineer with experience who wants to work in the Test Engineering and Services Center of Excellence. The primary responsibility for this position is to develop and sustain Boundary Scan Test Solutions in a manufacturing and service environment.

If selected, the employee will be part of a cross-functional team that plans out and develops test solutions for new or existing products. The team will be led by a project engineer that assigns and tracks tasks. Tasks would include integrating new hardware and software on new and existing test stations, which includes designing test equipment (fixtures, cables, cards, etc) and development of software to exercise the product under test on the test station. Once integrated and bugs worked out, the employee must properly release the hardware, software, and test documents. The test stations developed and supported are used in manufacturing, design team labs, and field service support areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review product designs, work with design team on test requirement, and create test solutions that provide the desired test coverage

  • Coordinating test equipment design reviews and ensuring the generation of appropriate design documentation for proper release process

  • Coordinating a drafting resource to complete drawing packages in a timely manner,

  • Creating and managing the Bill of Material (BOM) for your designs. Then providing the BOM to an Engineering Project Assistant to ensure that all items are ordered in time to meet the committed delivery date

  • Ability to control and/or communicate changes to the project scope so budget and schedule impact are understood

  • Developing solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Utilizing peers and best practices for guidance.

  • Providing factory support and willingness to prioritize factory issues over current project.

Boundary Scan Specific Responsibilities

  • This position will heavily utilize Asset Intertech Scanworks to develop boundary scan test solutions.

  • Knowledge of the IEEE 1149.1

  • Software / hardware mix; Experience with C#, LabView, or other programming is a plus

  • Circuit analysis (ability to understand circuit function from schematic)

  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a digital focus, but some analog is desired.

  • Knowledge of FPGA configuration and ASIC technologies is preferred.

  • Experience with processor emulation is desired.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Highly motivated and possess effective oral/written communication and interpersonal/team skills

  • Coordinate several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules

  • Ability to reverse engineer existing equipment (i.e. documenting something that is already built)

  • Excellent time management skills and good organization needed in order to meet commitments

  • Dependability - Demonstrates the ability to follow through with work assignments without constant supervision

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline. This position will be located in Cedar Rapids, but the candidate may be required to travel on occasion to support deployed test solutions. Relocation to Cedar Rapids is required. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. This position is in a shared services organization that provides test solutions for Government and Commercial Systems products. Applicant must be capable of obtaining a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Security Clearance.
