The Government Systems Engineering Airborne Strike Platform Systems Department (ASPS Engineering) is looking for a dynamic Sr Engineering Manager to provide leadership supporting our Bomber, Fighter, Light Attack, and Trainer Avionics business areas.
This strategic role will maintain interaction with major customers, business development, program managers, and a globally distributed engineering team. This position focuses on managing a group of systems engineers pursuing US and International Avionics programs while also leading development on existing Bomber and Fighter avionics solutions. The position requires some prior engineering management experience and experience setting Strategic technical direction to grow an emerging market space across the globe.
Responsibilities include managing individuals contributing technical talent, planning, organizing, resource allocation, personnel development, performance reviews, salary planning, as well as project management skills including earned value analysis. This includes working across Commercial Systems, Government Systems, and our International Engineering development teams to ensure successful project completion, drive common practices and methods, as well as enabling teams to proactively manage project execution. Additional responsibilities will include customer interaction, and communication with department and program management. A successful candidate will have knowledge of earned value and schedule management, software and systems development process and practices, and experience leading a team of several people. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, strategic thinking, communication skills, networking skills, and able to accurately forecast project work and costs. A candidate with a high-level understanding of systems and software development with a demonstrated ability to grow a new business area is a plus.
The selected candidate will work directly with and/or manage daily activities of engineers, perform project engineering and program management tasks when applicable, responsible for the development and progression of a product line roadmap, and interfacing with support organizations during the development of products. The candidate will work closely with Technical Project Managers, Business development, Product Line / Program Management, Systems, Software, and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of a program's lifecycle. A successful candidate will need the ability to matrix multiple programs and development tasks while supporting project objectives of meeting cost and schedule goals.
Candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interaction, interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills, and will be responsible for managing project risks/issues and elevating to upper management when appropriate. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Rockwell Collins process methodologies while developing and managing commitments to meet project financial and schedule deliverables and quality requirements.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
Experience with Rockwell Collins Fusion Avionics
Previous experience as a Systems Lead or Project Engineer
Systems engineering experience (minimum 5 years)
Demonstrated experience with Agile software development and planning models
Candidates MUST have the following:
Demonstrated successful experience winning new business
Demonstrated development of System Architecture and Product Line roadmaps and execution of those roadmaps
Project planning and people management experience
US DoD security clearance, or ability to obtain (US Citizenship is required)
Ability to travel 30%

System level test planning, configuration management and test execution.
