Provides technical support to Operations in the form of enabling and improving the flow of manufacturing utilizing the disciplines of industrial and mechanical engineering. Assignments range from straightforward and reactionary in nature to complex and strategic. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.
Plan, execute (facilitate) and document engineering economics challenges of moderate to high complexity. May estimate project costs and schedules and participates in preparation of proposals and presentations
May establish new approaches and techniques to achieve continuous improvement in some engineering economic disciplines.
Exhibits a rudimentary knowledge of industry-wide engineering economic practices (CAIV, target costing, etc.).
Responsible for technical problem definition and solution in manufacturing environment. Responsible to act as liaison with design engineering on incorporating changes to the designs which improve manufacturability.
Develop tools that enable manufacturing, aid process improvement or address safety concerns. Complete understanding and application of Rockwell Collins principles, concepts, practices and standards. Knowledge of industry practices.
Conducts, and may occasionally lead, cross-functional studies pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control through the application of Lean principles.
Determines the most efficient sequence of operations and work flow, and establishes methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel.
Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors.
Plans and designs facilities and layout for manufacturing processes and equipment, taking into account economic factors, process flow, operator efficiency and comfort.
Develops solutions to a variety of IE problems of moderate scope and complexity. May require guidance when conducting new or abnormal tasks.
Reviews product designs for producibility. May provide technical input to correct design deficiencies in producibility.
Responsible for developing new assembly processes and making improvements to existing processes.
Assists in research studies on new processes, methods and equipment.
Performs assignments requiring the use and application of moderate engineering economics principles and techniques.
Analyzes and understands systems requirements and design. Begins to see them in terms of cost impacts and attributes.
Perform or direct others in the performance of moderately complex economic analysis, and the achievement of economic goals for systems and products under development.
Individual job duties may vary.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
US Citiizenship or Permanent Residence is required. Candidate must have experience with Rockwell Collins policies and procedures as well as a diverse background of work experience (Lean, Quality, Proj Mgt,& previous IE experience)
