Job Summary

Rockwell Collins is seeking an experienced human factors engineer experienced in DOD aviation mission focused applications to support a diverse portfolio of research and development activities within our Advanced Technology Center. Our flight deck research is focused on developing new technologies and interfaces to aid civil and military operators in increasing mission effectiveness to keep pace with commercial technology disruptors and DOD directives. As a subject matter expert, the person in this role will be externally focused primary interfacing with DOD agencies as a primary investigator leading research teams and aligning technology development with customer needs and market opportunities. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with business partners to facilitate successful technology transitions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop winning technical proposals and lead execution of government-sponsored science and technology research contracts

  • Lead teams of systems and software engineers to develop, integrate, and evaluate new flight deck human interface and autonomy technologies focused in the mission-critical environment

  • Contribute to strategic research roadmaps for the development and transition of new flight deck and mission systems technologies

  • Act as an expert technical advisor to engineering and business leadership in the area off flight deck technologies, mission interfaces and autonomy

Basic Qualifications

  • The candidate must possess a STEM degree along with a strong understanding of aircraft piloting and mission systems, Human Factors / Human Systems Integration and substantial background demonstrating innovation

  • The candidate must have at least ten years of aviation or mission systems R&D experience

  • The ideal candidate will possess technical proposal preparation experience and strong presentation skills
