The Lavatories and Water Waste Systems division of Rockwell Collins formerly B/E Aerospace is the sole source lavatory provider for the Boeing 737 MAX program. JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Sr. Mechanical Engineer develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities that are to be carried out by others. Assesses the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient, or confirmation by testing is advisable. Incumbent is recognized as a technical expert within the department or division of the company. Incumbent possesses a thorough knowledge of general principles and theories in a professional field, and contributes significantly to the solution of applied problems.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in establishing design constraints.

  • Prepares engineering development proposals and feasibility studies.

  • Helps management set technical objectives.

  • Coordinates efforts at all levels with other units of the company, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Marketing, etc.

  • May develop new or modified components, products, manufacturing processes, materials, and equipment.

  • May supervise or provide work direction to lower-level engineers.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university; and at least nine (9) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Product knowledge base includes, but is not limited to, fluid handling equipment such as actuated or manual valves, pumping equipment, high speed blowers or fans, plumbing elements, thin-walled pressure vessels, and fluid/pneumatic seal designs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred candidate will have experience in development and integration of aircraft equipment and electro-mechanical systems.

  • Familiarity with interpreting and creating equipment specifications, specifying and conducting verification testing, and generation of qualification and certification documentation related to Chapter 38 Water and Waste equipment and systems, or similar cabin equipment, preferred.
