Rockwell Collins is seeking a proactive, engaged leader to join the leadership team as a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Electrical Engineering and Certification group within the Cabin Engineering department.
As Senior Manager, Engineering you will be responsible to lead contributing electrical engineering talent. In this role you will have direct responsibility for the design, development, validation, qualification, certification, and continued airworthiness of cabin products and systems. You will be responsible for success (technical, cost, schedule, design to cost, product integrity, manufacturability etc.) of assigned/allocated tasks and activities as well as responsibility for program performance for cognizant developments.
Leverages advanced principles, theories, and concepts of complex technical subjects to provide direction for employees.
Responsible for the successful execution of certification and qualification activities for all programs including budget and schedule.
Responsible for all interfaces with FAA, EASA, Boeing, Airbus and Foreign Civil Aviation Authority for any Certification activities.
Responsible for managing all FAA qualification testing, coordinate with FAA DER, DAR activities, and schedule test facilities.
Responsible for managing all FAA and EASA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) function for airline programs. STC function includes coordination with FAA and EASA obtaining approvals for all Structural, Flammability, Electrical and Compliance safety related data packages.
Responsible for review all contributing vendors (Seat, Third party equipment, Galley, etc.) qualification documents to ensure compliance with regulation in support of airline programs certification activities.
Assigns technical resources to work assignments (workforce allocation).
Approves work scope for assigned portion of overall program.
Ensures compliance to development processes and standard work requirements. Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Acquires and develops technical resources which contribute to the completion of domain projects.
Oversees development work being performed by third party partners or subcontract labor.
Actively addresses employee performance and development issues.
Oversees and participates in development of engineering bids to ensure success.
Responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling responsibilities for groups of engineers.
Responsible for the development and technical coaching of staff as well as onboarding and assimilation of new hires. Provides guidance to direct reports within the latitude of established departmental policies and objectives.
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
Experience in planning complex, multi-disciplined projects that span over an entire system
Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements and with obtaining FAA and EASA Supplemental Type Certification (STC)
demonstrated experience leading electrical design teams (either formally or informally)
Additional experience a plus:
- Experience with design, development, test, verification, qualification, and certification of aircraft cabin systems as well as cabin/passenger connectivity systems
