B/E Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rockwell Collins Inc., is a leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and we currently have some exciting positions based at our Leighton Buzzard facility, including an Industrial Design Engineer. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Designer will be working within the product development team to design bespoke and innovative products for a range of Aircraft Interior applications. You will be required to support development projects taking them from conception through to production. Involved in multiple development projects, ensuring they are designed to be fit for purpose, helping meet the requirements of the project brief and are cost-effective in both manufacturability. Specifically this role is responsible for: • Design, develop and provide products using high-quality and innovative design solutions within brief of airline requirements.• Creates industrial design digital surface models of product for drawings and prototypes.• Creates professional grade computer renderings of product in aircraft interiors.• Discuss and solve problems with internal departments and suppliers.• Coordinates efforts of engineering and prototyping with suppliers.• Maintaining technical coordination and aesthetic control with Engineering• Work closely with other team members, designers and engineering department• Ensure regular/accurate reporting of project status• Understand manufacturing processes, materials and finishes.• Actively seeking for new materials• Seek continuous improvement of products and processes• Good knowledge of global design trends and applying timeless features to new design to ensure products are innovative• Providing industrial design guidance to colleagues including coaching on core industrial design principles• Confident in preparing and delivering customer presentations.• Occasional travel to Europe and further afield to support Customer meetings The Ideal candidate will have the following – The ideal candidate will have a creative and proactive mindset towards design, and is a team player. You are organised and naturally attentive to detail, ready to support design projects, and you are curious and motivated to keep learning and changing for the better. • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Product Design / Industrial Design or relevant equivalent experience• A portfolio that highlights multiple projects.• Must have good working knowledge of the following packages – 3D CAD software (Preference Autodesk Inventor), 3DS Max, Vray, Adobe Creative Suite (ie Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).• Good knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods and Decorative finishing.• Effective oral and written communication skills – communication of design intent to non design colleagues• MS Word, Excel and Outlook The following requirements would be an advantage - • 3 years plus of experience in the transport industry or similar would be preferable.• Strong technical knowledge and skills• Animation software – After Effects and Adobe Premier• The ability to work with a low level of supervision and intervention• Other languages
