Rockwell Collins PDM Engineer in Leighton Buzzard, United Kingdom

B/E Aerospace, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rockwell Collins Inc., is a leading manufacturer of aircraft interior products and we currently have some exciting positions based at our Leighton Buzzard facility, including a PDM Engineer.

Reporting to the Commercial Engineering Team Leader, you will be responsible for the following –

  • Investigate and provide engineering / technical solutions to support the loading of BOM data.

  • Instigate new items / assemblies / routings within JDE databases as applicable, from data supplied by Design Engineering.

  • Have a good working knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings to support PDM.

  • Maintain database by implementing changes supported by recognised documentation control systems.

  • Work in conjunction with other departments to support production requests form internal and external sources.

  • Compile assembly routings supported by standard data in conjunction with Production Engineers to maintain shop floor assembly manufacture.

  • Have an understanding of Engineering Design procedures to support Product Data Management.

  • Work with accuracy in Engineering Branch Plants within J D Edward’s database.

  • Representing the BOM group in liaison with other areas within B/E Aerospace.

  • Support the PDM group with general administrative duties as necessary.

We are looking for someone who has an BTEC Diploma or higher in Engineering related subject (Or Equivalent) and/or proven related experience:

  • The suitable candidate will have a strong commercial, manufacturing, engineering and continuous improvement background gained in a low to medium volume manufacturing environment. This will include;

  • Full understanding of multi-level BoM structures

  • Knowledge of assembly stages & methods

  • Experience within a continuous improvement/lean culture

  • Using Integrated systems and MRP/ERPs

  • Strong Excel and Database desired

  • Communication skills – ability to communicate at all levels from Operations to Management

  • Ability to question, challenge and make decisions based on data and facts

  • A positive “can do” attitude

  • Working within a team to achieve departmental and business objectives
