Our Lenexa facility specializes in the production of Oxygen Life Support Systems and Galley Inserts Beverage Maker Products. Our Oxygen and Beverage Maker small parts assembly manufacturing, focuses on safety and quality products production into the field for aircraft crew and passengers.

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Strategic Buyer in our Beverage Maker Products Systems business located in Lenexa, Kansas.


Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the Strategic Buyer will represent the Supply Chain as part of the product development team supporting Design to Cost efforts while ensuring material availability for a successful product launch. The buyer will be responsible for a specific commodity and for Long Term and Purchase Agreements.


  • Purchases materials, parts, supplies, and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures and optimizes price, delivery, and terms with minimum supervision

  • Partner with Engineering, Marketing and Program Management during the product definition phase to assess cost feasibility and cost targets

  • Partner with cross functional team members to mitigate cost creep throughout the development process

  • Collaborate with suppliers during development process to identify design and manufacturing cost drivers to support Design to Cost efforts

  • Seek out and identify opportunities for value creation (cost savings, cost avoidance, revenue enhancement) and risk reduction

  • Coordinate with planning to transition production requirements once product has successfully launched

  • Support Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) reviews for new products with Supply Chain

  • Work in cross-functional team environment to achieve the best cost for the parts without compromising performance, quality or reliability

  • Influence design decisions by participating in design concept reviews to assure cost is being considered as one of the key elements in concept evaluation

  • Performs risk assessments to identify and mitigate program cost risks with Supply Chain

  • Lead the RFI, RFQ and supplier selection process

  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers

  • Negotiate Long Term Agreements and Purchase Agreements within the commodity

  • Provides guidance and training to lower-level Buyers

  • Performs other related duties as required


  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or University; and eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to understand engineering specifications, drawings and requirements

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process

  • Experience and ability to be a change agent

  • Strong problem solving, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans


  • Experience working with Aerospace products and quality requirements

  • Ability to travel locally and internationally
