Our Lenexa facility designs and manufactures Galley Inserts Beverage Maker Products for commercial, military and private business jet aircrafts. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Supplier Quality Engineer in our Oxygen & PSU Systems business located in Lenexa, Kansas.

SUMMARY

Provide leadership in developing strategies to enhance the overall quality of incoming product through supplier management and development. Serves as a leader and a resource regarding supplier quality issues, problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads efforts to drive improvement in supplier quality through implementation of supplier quality improvement strategies.

  • Champions the Supplier Quality Improvement Team (SQIT).

  • Works with supplier organizations to rectify and improve OTD and quality issues. Develops and executes improvement plans with suppliers as required.

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive procedures and policies to measure and ensure supplier performance.

  • Develops and executes comprehensive supplier audit plan.

  • Trains and mentors supplier auditors.

  • Leads process assessments/audits, recommends improvements, and monitors implementation of changes.

  • Reviews capability and capacity of supplier and informs management of significant gaps.

  • Promotes design for manufacturability by working with Product Engineering and suppliers.

  • Responsible for key internal quality metrics (Supplier OTD, and Quality).

  • Leads efforts required to develop, implement, and verify manufacturing control systems at suppliers.

  • Implements quality improvement activities with supply chain.

  • Initiates Corrective Action Report management and resolution.

  • Develops supplier certification program to select, evaluate, monitor and de-select suppliers.

  • Implements supplier scorecard to measure suppliers on critical characteristics, reviewing scorecards with suppliers and with nonconforming suppliers to develop action plans.

  • May provide guidance/direction/training and have input into the performance appraisals of lower level supplier quality engineers.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of experience & education

  • Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with MRP / ERP systems

  • Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM) structure

  • Ability to read technical drawings and identify material call-outs

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel

  • Up to 50% travel, domestic and international

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Aerospace or Defense procurement

  • Understanding of and participation in the AS9100 Quality Requirements

  • Experience working with ISO, QS, or TS quality systems

  • Prior track record of success in achieving significant improvements to the Supply Chain Organization thru drafting and implementing Cost Savings, LT Reductions, Contracting, Quality improvement, Delivery improvement, or Supply Security Planning projects with Supplier Partners

  • Prior track record of adhering consistently to Standard Work, and developing personal cadences in support of that standard work, all within the bounds of Procurement Policies, Procedures, and Best Operating Practices

  • Experience with Continuous Improvement of Procurement Team processes and methods

  • Demonstrated experience conducting supplier audits

  • Experience in the following commodities: Electronics, plastics, metals and machining

  • Familiar with APQP and PPQP processes

  • Quality Certifications for ASQ is a plus
