Rockwell Collins Quality Engineer in Westminster, California

As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Quality Engineer in our Machine Products Group, located in Westminster, CA. This division of B/E Aerospace specializes in high-quality, complex components, assemblies, kits, gears, precision and gearbox assemblies, and complex machined parts for commercial and military aerospace applications. This position will have responsibility for ATS Anaheim and Westminster, CA.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials and products.
Develops and applies advanced Quality Engineering theories, methods and research techniques in the development
Establishment and maintenance of quality assurance/control policies, procedures and methods
Develops sampling plans, quality standards and quality control instructions to be utilized by manufacturing
Assist with developing and publishing first article inspection report documentation per AS9102.
Tests and inspects in assessing the quality levels of products and processes per customer requirements and AS9100.
Provides recommendations concerning the disposition of defective materials
Reviews corrective actions recommended on audit reports for adequacy and to maintain a continuing awareness of quality problems.
Conducts investigations of considerable complexity pertaining to the manufacture of new products
Establishment of new processes or resolution of complex product quality problems
May provide technical guidance to lower level engineers, technicians and inspectors
•Bachelor's Degree from a four year college or university, or an equivalent combination of formal education, on-the-job training, and/or work and life experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years aerospace experience and/or training.
•Formal root cause and corrective action investigation experience with proper quality tools
•Good foundation in PPAP or APQP creation of documents and use of tools
•Experience with aerospace customer quality and in-house manufacturing quality
•Blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing skills
•Strong Microsoft Office capability, SPC knowledge
•Five years' related experience in a precision aerospace machining (grinding, machining, gear cutting and close tolerance milling and turning)
•Prior experience with Minitab or equivalent statistical software
•NADCAP compliance for in house special process non-destructive testing (NDT) to support machining, gear cutting and brazing
•Experience with Honeywell, Hamilton Sundstrand and Pratt & Whitney quality requirements.
•Six-sigma green or black belt certification
