Job Summary

Rockwell Collins IMS Surface Transportation Systems division in Marina del Rey, CA is currently seeking a motivated Customer Service Engineer to support a client Wilmington, DE. In this role the selected candidate will perform system maintenance, troubleshooting, reconfiguration, and enhancement for a large complex installed system.

Job Responsibilities

Other duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Support critical system on site requiring troubleshooting various software applications, network equipment, and field communications. Timely communication and reporting on troubleshooting activities and resolutions.

  • Ensure Critical System’s stability.

  • Perform database, application, environment, and network configurations and re-configurations.

  • Assist with software testing and documentation.

  • Implementing changes and upgrades to complex systems.

  • Integrating systems with complex external systems operated by external companies or agencies.

  • Handle documentation for procedures, training and enhancements.

  • Perform software development.

  • Participate on project teams to adapt Rockwell Collins AIM rail control system for new customers, tailor base product to new customers, and develop customer specific and product enhancements.

The ongoing goals for this position are as follows:

  • Support and take ownership of on-site releases which may require off hours maintenance

  • Timely reporting and follow-through

  • Maintaining and improving user acceptance of the system

  • Track user issues and follow through to completion

  • Analyzing performance of complex systems.

  • Analyzing and Managing customer requirements.

  • Working in a highly integrated team environment

  • Establish and maintain effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Acquire knowledge of Rockwell Collins related products and services.

  • Maintain and enhance existing software baseline.

  • Design new elements or changes in scope of project.

  • Take responsibility for systems integration and testing of SW projects.

  • Follow and enforce engineering guidelines set in software development plan.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in appropriate discipline or in the absence of a degree six years of related experience

  • Expereince working with system integration and troubleshooting of hardware/ software and networking systems.

  • Experience with system integration and integration testing is required.

  • Experience with field integration and network troubleshooting.

  • Experience working with users and understanding user needs and requirements.

  • Experience and proficiency in applying software development processes and procedures within a software development project framework.

  • Proficient in C, C++, Java, and database design, SQL, Experience with Oracle and Windows Server operating systems required

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with transit agencies, train control or SCADA systems desired.

  • Mission critical system and real-time development and support are a plus.
