As a leader in the aerospace industry, we are growing rapidly and have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Commodity Manager in our Supply Chain function located in Winston-Salem, NC.
Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, the Commodity Manager will develop and implement global commodity strategies for the Rubber and Foam commodities as well as supporting the overall Plastic commodity. Creates, negotiates, implements, and monitors long-term purchase agreements with critical suppliers.
Focus on the Rubber & Foam raw material strategy including working across businesses to consolidate/ leverage materials and understand the full value chain from producer to distributors/processers to the consumer.
Support the overall Plastics strategy, development & assessment of suppliers, roll-out of new programs and solving problems within the supply chain.
Supplier selection and qualification based upon capability, quality control, and cost competitiveness.
Expand the raw material strategy to better support production of parts in Asia without adversely effecting lead times.
Develops and manages new sources of supply for long-lead components being introduced into production with emphasis on securing better-value sources of supply.
Maintains and disseminates knowledge and awareness of industry issues, trends and developments for assigned commodity area.
Develops, manages, and implements new/better value sources of supply for components currently in production.
Creates, negotiates, implements, and manages long-term purchase agreements with critical suppliers covering all applicable B/E Aerospace sites.
Develops specifications and processes to service multiple production sites.
Performs commercial/operational audits of new and existing suppliers.
Provides guidance and training to lower-level buyers and other associates.
Interviews supplier representatives regarding specifications, costs, inspection, and similar problems relating to parts and equipment.
Performs other related duties as required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance from a four-year college or university or an equivalent
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with some experience in either Plastics, Composites, Rubber and/or Foam.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with MRP / ERP systems.
Strong spreadsheet and presentation skills.
Experience in a highly regulated industry, aerospace being more preffered.
Strong business acumen and knowledge of labor market conditions.
Experience working in large organizations with a geographically dispersed workforce.
Well organized with solid judgment; able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.
Desire to identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead projects to make improvements to processes, procedures, etc.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders including Senior Leadership.
Demonstrated ability to build credibility with, interact with, and influence suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders; Ability to build strong relationships.
